Why Digital Marketing Is Important For Small Business

Why Digital Marketing Is Important For Small Business

When small businesses get started, their effort is every so often on how to get their first crowd of customers through the door. They may depend on traditional methods of advertising, such as print ads and coupon envelopes or even big signs on the sideways of the road because they don’t know the importance of Digital marketing. They may trust that since they know they offer are good merchandise or service, it’s only a matter of time up until customers will find their way to them.

While this strategy may bring in a drip of business, there is an improved and easier way. Small businesses should study the huge marketplace of prospects online. No small business, no matter how new, should oversee this vast marketplace.

Other benefits of online marketing include:

  • The capability to interact with your scenarios and learn exactly what they are looking for
  • The ability to reach a global market

Why would you pick to postpone setting time and effort into digital marketing? Different small business owners might come up with a range of reasons to avoid this form of marketing, but in the finale, procrastination is still procrastination.

Small businesses occasionally believe that they don’t have the time or else the money to be competitive online. They think they can simply face so many challenges all at one time and they are still learning the ins and outs of the business overall. Several of them may wish to take things gradually and to stick with one or two simple forms of advertising, supposing that their business will evolve as time passes.

They may even think the best approach is simply to hold your fire for customers to show up. Since they are Small businesses, they might think they only need a small number of customers. This is not an effective approach. There is certainly not an assurance that your business will appeal customers just by existing and even if it fixes, you may not appeal as many customers as you need to make your business become cost-effective.

Do you know your customers are online?

If you have been dodging digital marketing, is it because you think you are basically not ready? Do you think you just want some time to get recognized and then you will figure out the digital marketing approach?

The problem with this approach is that your customers and potential customers are now online. Right now. Today, there’s a decent chance they might already be watching for a business like yours, but if they can’t find you simply, they are possibly going to choose someone else.

This is how people do business today. When someone has an interest in your business, whether it is in your niche in overall or if they are interested about your brand, the first thing they are going to do is investigate online and see what they can find out about you.

They are supposed to find you there with a website and a Social Media Presence. They may be looking for analyses so they can learn what other people are saying about your business and whether it is a decent place to do business.

If a potential customer can’t find you online, they may accomplish that your business doesn’t appear to be genuine. There is a very good chance that a lot of these predictions may decide not to take your business seriously and they will speedily head somewhere else.

Once they have made that choice, they possibly won’t be back.

Your competitors are already online:

For your business to be positive, you need to pay devotion to what your competitors are doing and absorb from it. Think of your competitors not just as somebody that you are scheduling to beat, but as people who have something to teach you.

When you look at what your competitors are doing, you will get some knowledge of what is working and what isn’t working. Most expected, whatever type of business you are in, your competitors have a well-known web presence. What kind of content are they consuming? Are they blogging, or are they using attractive graphics and videos?

How do they connect their brand and what makes them unique? How well do they participate with the audience? Do you think you can do better than them? You can’t if you don’t participate in challenging in the digital world.

If your predictions begin to search for business alike to yours and are clever enough to find your competitors’ website but not yours, your business is not even in the search engine result pages. Your predictions can’t select you if they don’t know about you. In this situation, your competitors have just raced ahead of you irrespective of whether they have an effective website or clear communication.

Let your customers find you:

It’s clear that in today’s digital world, the initial place the regular consumer looks for what they need is online. Whatsoever product or service they are looking for, they will most likely start their research with Google. If you have no online occurrence at all, you won’t be found, and simply you can’t compete.

If you have an online presence but your rivals are easier to discovered and are found first, you still might not be found at all. As well creating a great website, learning search engine optimization(SEO) is an approach that can help you move forward of your competitors just by being actuality the first name that a vision finds in google search results with keywords that can bring them to your business.

Basic queries that your predictions may want fast answers to should be effortlessly available online, such as where you are situated, what your working hours are and what you concentrate in. By seeing your website and your competitors’ websites side by side, your predictions should be able to compare hours, prices, special proposals and more.

This is why it’s important for you to know what your competitors are up to. Your predictions are already inspecting both you and your opponents out. They are already equating you against each other. What are they finding out?

Digital Marketing can make a great impact on your business:

Think of digital marketing as a method to make yourself available to the people you are trying to influence in order to suggest your products and services. The possibility of your business can spread well beyond your walls. You are able to appeal a much bigger audience than you probably could by just catering to local predictions.

By making a web presence, your business is open for deals even when it’s closed. You can generate an atmosphere in which your clients can come to you anytime day or night.

At their suitability, clients and predictions can send you emails with queries, make purchases and look your services or products. Potential customers who have no way to actually come to you can still do commercial deals with you, whether they are restricted by disability, transportation or just living too far away.

Don’t make people fool. If you put yourself out there just to make a profit or just to enhance your own profile, people will see through it. Your website design is directly linked to your brand or business, and it needs to come across as authentic and engaging.

What do you try to achieve?

Once your purpose is set and clear, the focus shifts towards what action you want when visitors come to your website. Is your site only for giving information? Selling products? Or just for Sign-In and Sign-Up?

The answer to this will lead to how your website looks and what it feels. Using eCommerce as an example, one critical element of your design is your landing page.

It doesn’t necessarily mean it is necessarily right for you. So, it’s important to take your time and look at what competitors are doing. Each sector will have different-different styles for different websites. So, it’s essential to know whether you want to fit into your industry or disrupt it.

Hopefully, there is another way, website builders and e-commerce platforms. These are DIY tools on which you can easily design and create your website without needing to know the single line of code.

Naturally, there are tons of options out there – of varying quality – but we’ve put in the analysis and researched the best on the market. So, we created a list of some options for both regular websites and online stores.

  • WordPress: WordPress.org is a self-hosted, open-source CMS(Content Management System)- but you all really need to know that it is the most popular platform for designing a website.

  • Wix: Wix is generally regarded as the best website builder in the market. It’s easy to use a drag-and-drop editor give you full control, allowing you to add in all your content and position it where you want to fix it.

  • Squarespace: Squarespace is a website builder that weeps class, and comes with a glossy, premium feel.

  • Weebly: Weebly is marketed as a website builder for all, but really, it specializes for the small business websites. It has a great range of templates to choose from and drag-and-drop editors that are pretty easy to grip with it.

  • Shopify: Shopify stands head and shoulders above its peers as the best e-commerce platform. It has a range of themes which are all designed with products in your mind and more sales features than you can shake a stick at.

4. Select your Template and Start Customizing:

Now you’re clear on your site’s purpose, clued up on the latest web design trends, have a platform in your mind, you should have a much good idea of what you need from a template. Sometimes, A template referred to as a theme is the layout of your site. For example, think of a template like the structure of your house: it forms a basic appearance before you fill it with all belongings.

Most platforms will offer you a range of templates to select from, which come prefilled with example content.

Templates are usually divided into industry categories, making it super simple and finding ones that are relevant to you. Each and every category will have templates with built-in features that are relevant to that industry, which saves your time and effort of adding them in later.

For example, if you wanted a website for your new bakery shop, you may search the templates listed under ‘Bakery’. Most of these have an already contact form, menu page and contact details built into the template, as they are all related to what bakery websites look like and what requires.

All templates can be previewed before you begin editing, so you can get a clear idea of what it looks like- and, more importantly, whether it fits according to your needs.

5. Decide Your Branding:

The time has to come to start designing your website. Now,  put what we’ve learned into practice. When designing your website, you should think about how all things come together and relate to your overall brand. Everything from the colour schemes to fonts styles and imagery plays a part in telling your brand story. And it’s very important that they all can send the same message.

  • Colour Schemes: Colour is the most important communication tool for any agency. In fact, according to colour matters, a signature colour can boost brand recognition by 80%.

Most brands have one dominant colour and two or three secondary colours. Most of the brands were using Blue colour in their logo.

  • Fonts Style: Similarly to colour, the font you choose for has a big impact on what people think about your website. The average website user will read about 20% of the text on any given page. So, it’s critical to allure them with an appropriate vibe.

  • Imagery: images are how you turn the modest website into a visual feast. Visual content is useful in increasing clicks and engagements.

6. Add-In And Optimize Your Content:

So, now you know what you want to add to your website, there are two things you need to think about its positioning and optimization.

Positioning refers to where your content site is on each page, and how it’s laid out. On the other hand, Optimizing refers to the process of modifying your content so it ranks higher in the Search Engine like Google and Bing.

Here are the few important things you have to do during the optimization of your website:

  • MetaData: Beyond Your existing content, pages title and description – are known as Metadata. It is the easiest way to tell Google what your site is all about. Metadata appears in the Search Results and permits a user to discover what’s on your webpage before they click on it.
  • Image Compression: images are typically large files. This means having lots of imagery can slow down your website, which leads to user inpatient and leaving before loading the full the website. This is known as “Bouncing” off the page. So image compression is very important. For compressing image there are so many images compressing tools available which reduce the pixels in your images. And while it’s very important not to disfigure the quality of the imagery, compressing pictures provide a large impact on page speed.
  • Image Alt Text: Besides, compressing images, another important part of SEO is to tell Google what an image represents. Unlike text, Search Engine can’t read images, so by adding alt text to an image, you are convincingly them to understand what is representing.
  • Mobile Responsiveness: This is a huge one. In 2019 65% of all internet browsing took place on mobile phones. That’s why Google approves the website which is properly formatted on Mobile phones or on other devices. If your website does not mobile responsive then this could be a serious problem.

Most templates these days are mobile responsive and automatically reformat your website according to the device screen. Capturing this advantage will improve your user experience, and get you some good SEO.

  • Internal Linking: Internal Linking is where you direct users to another webpage on your website through Hyperlink. This is done when you state something that you have related content on. This tells Google that you have authority and you have so many other articles about it.

‘E.A.T’ stands for Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness. By writing so deep about any subject and interlinked this subject to their related content, you are showing Search Engine that you have really known about the subject, which will help you to rank higher.

7. Publish Your Website:

Now, it’s time to check every single thing on your website before going live.

Ask your friends, colleagues to test the site in preview mode, and see if they find anything wrong.

Some common things you want to check for are:

  • All your links work properly, and they directly go to the right page.
  • All your content is readable and easy to find and understandable.
  • You never more than three clicks away from the home page.
  • Your site was fully responsive and looks great on all devices like desktop, mobile phones, tablets etc.
  • Must check the loading speed not more than 5 seconds.

Always take the time to properly check the website before going live. Because the first impression matters. After that, you are ready: publish your website, and send it out into the online world.

8. Analyze and Improve:

Congratulations, you are now the proud owner of your live website. But it’s important to keep track of how your website is performing. Most platforms have their own built-in analytics, or at least have an app you can install. Or you can connect your site to Google Analytics, so you can track things like;

  • How many pages view you were getting.
  • The amount of time a user spends on your website.
  • What is your bounce rate?
  • Conversion rates if you have an e-commerce website.

These stats knowns as behavioural metrics, which helps you to give an idea which pages of your website need attention. They also help you to find where you have to improve the SEO.

The fact is a web designer’s job is never truly done. If you take rest and admire your work, others will overtake you. It takes only a few minutes to fix the site issue but keeping on top of your website performance and shifts in web design trends will go a long way.

How To Conduct a Site Audit SEO?

How To Conduct a Site Audit SEO?

How To Conduct a Site Audit SEO?

Search Engine Optimization SEO Operations By Quality Standards

This article is intended for agencies that provide site optimization services, do audits, write marketing recipes, and raise customers in the TOP.

Today I would like to present you with the idea of how to sort out everything that we do in search engine optimization into various elements. Let’s call them “operations”.

Operations and project activities.

According to management theory, the activity can be divided globally into two different entities:

  • operational activities
  • project activities

What is the project activity?

This is when in the process of creating a project, each time you meet with something new. You do not know what result you will get at the entrance, you know roughly how to go there, what resources are needed approximately, what general rules this obeys. The fact that you need to take into account time, resources, lay a “corporal clearance”, manage the project, look at the status of the project and so on. And still, there is a large percentage of unpredictability.

In operational activities, we are faced with some routine, standard operations. In SEO, you can and should abandon the unpredictability of daily work. Make optimization a predictable, manageable, regulated, and clear process. And aerobatics is to work according to some GOSTs in SEO, professional standards.

Search engine optimization today has overgrown with many operations, there are literally hundreds of them. In each individual block, you need to collect dozens of different routine things.

For example,  you can get a huge amount of information through the API, and each of them is actually a separate operation. For example, getting data:

  • about search traffic.
  • about specific searches.
  • about user behaviour, per cent failure.
  • about achieving a goal and so on.

Each operation as a team to a specific action.

Having compiled such a list of operations, you can move forward and plan what you can automate, regulate and prescribe.

Why is it necessary to transition from a chaotic process to an orderly operational SEO?

In order to reduce risks, make processes more manageable, regulatory. When you clearly know what you want, it’s easier for you to do your job, calculate, manage, delegate – and then show the client what you are doing for his project.

How to turn an SEO audit from a “service” into a “box”?

What is an SEO audit? This is when the optimizer checks the site for various parameters and criteria, makes a verdict on them, gives some recommendations. Indicates weak, sagging places.

There are a large number of versions of various audits, which differ in-depth, detail, the number of automatic and manual works. Quite often there is a surface automatic audit, which is performed by scanning and identifying some technical flaws. Some people, on the contrary, do very detailed work, actually calling strategies for promoting SEO-audit.

What have we done inside our company? We once took and decided that an SEO audit should no longer be such a pig in a poke, it should be an understandable and transparent product.

We described the audit composition, put everything on the shelves, came up with two audit options. The first one is the very technical one that I mentioned, where automatic scanning is performed, and

we show the main technical errors.

This type of audit sometimes leads to erroneous conclusions. The revealed trifle seems significant.

A global technical audit can show the state of a site: it is abandoned or is in a neat, working condition.

What is included in an SEO audit?

When tired of inventing to still cram into an SEO audit

If you have the number of typos, broken links measured in the tens or worse, hundreds, then the technical condition of the site is clearly poor. If you have met a certain number of looped redirects, a couple of broken links, then everything is almost normal, the state of the site is not critical. I do not propose in such cases to criticize the contractor, but ask to include this in the work plan.

The second version of the audit is no longer express, but a full-fledged audit, which is done manually by specialists after the site is crawled and checked by automatic scripts.

We laid out such a deep check on the shelves, and I will even give you the opportunity to look at a list of these elements. I advise you to show the client examples of such a deep audit. If you simply announce the composition of actions but do not show how it looks from the outside, there may be a discrepancy in expectations for completeness, details, detail of the answer, and so on.

Why is it important to regulate the deadline for work and how marketers beat it

The main thing is that we regulate the period for which we perform this audit and perform faster than we promise.

Why is it important? You did not notice that at the airport when you go to receive luggage, you can go after it for a long time. Get out of one building and by the time you get to the luggage, you are unhappy that you walked for a long time, but immediately get the luggage. This was done by cunning marketers who at one time noticed that people don’t like to wait for baggage, they negatively evaluate the work of the airport and airline. And due to the fact that they walked, a person psychologically perceives that he did not spend this time waiting for his suitcase to appear on the tape, but to get to this tape.  while he was walking, they manage to deliver luggage.

One more example. My daughter and I were at Disneyland in Hong Kong for Halloween — great big attractions, costume shows, many who wanted to see, and a long line of endless snakes. I clearly remember the tablets. It was indicated on them that if you are standing here, you have an hour left before you get on the attraction, if you are standing there, you have half an hour left.

The trickiest highlight is that time was indicated with some margin. Where it says “hour”, you really got on the ride in 40 minutes. And the situation was better perceived, more positive. It turns out that the company gave you a certain promise, but fulfilled it in excess. It is very important to exceed deadlines.

This is a small life hack, but it is very valuable. And now there will be one more.

Audit template

According to the link, download the template, after seeking access. You will see the standard of our state of SEO audit, which I propose to use. If you do not have your own developed standard, how you will do an SEO audit, you can take our finished file and use it in practice. Or take our template as a basis and refine it in a way that is convenient for you and your customers.

The main thing is a standardized document in which everything is clear and regulated.

Work plan for a client with an SEO audit

Imagine that each of the stages that you do for clients can be decomposed into some elements. It turns out a plan for a week, a month, six months. What is this for? To figure out how much work you can do. Sometimes it happens that you incorrectly assess the labour costs or the capacity of the task.

I can give an example from my practice.

I recently talked with the client on the project and assumed that the task was simple, that we would do it instantly. But as a result, when we began to calculate how much time a specialist spends on performing this one routine operation, it turned out that we needed much more time. It is physically impossible to speed up the process. It was necessary to connect either several specialists, conducting processes in parallel. Or unfortunately, do the work longer.

But subjectively, before a detailed calculation, the estimate is incorrect.

Take, for example, a text relevance check. What does this process include? Checking whether a sufficient number of keys or, conversely, is excessive when there is a risk of falling under some filters. If we reveal the fact of filter imposition, we prescribe the most detailed recommendations for getting out of it.

The result of this work: verification and compliance with certain recommended indicators, which are calculated by our scripts and recommendations are given by a specialist manually, to change the text or content. Or on the implementation of information inserts inside the page in HTML code. One way or another, all the same, these are prescribed parameters without surprises. The client understands what he will receive at the exit.

What are the quality criteria in SEO?

For example, we guarantee that in the semantic core there will be no queries with toponyms that are not related to the client’s geography or homonyms when the query is not related to the client’s business.

We had a case when we collected semantics for grocery hypermarkets. I got a section related to cakes, and toy cakes made of plasticine, children’s toys got there. We deleted them manually, thank God, we noticed them before sending them to the client. But this is a quality criterion.

The fact that such homonyms and ambiguities should be excluded from the semantic core, and that we guarantee it, and then demonstrate that the promises are true, is good. Warranty – Formulated SEO specialist engagement.

When you paint each of your volumes of work in detail, detail all your forces processes in the form of small blocks, even individual operations, it’s easier for you to formulate quality criteria and somehow regulate the processes. If your work looks like “we need to deal with internal search engine optimization,” then in this general vague wording you can miss a lot of important and critical things for the client.

What is the agency responsible for?

It is important to write to the client a list of what you are responsible for, so that there are no conflicts in the future. Let me give you some simple example.

The client can tell you what he sees in the top sites –   He wants to change this picture. But! If this is not included in your scope of work, then you can not do such a job. Then, in advance, on the shore, agree on what you are responsible for and whatnot. The keyword is “in advance.”

What is the trickiest nuance? This list cannot be compiled if you try to write it right now after reading this article. You will either have it short, or you simply won’t even move further than the white sheet with the title.

It makes sense every time you conclude an agreement with a client, look at your checklist of “areas of responsibility” and add or modify it to the client’s task.

For example, then you are responsible for:

  • the site will not be closed from indexing through robots.txt. (If you are responsible for this, of course. Our scripts automatically check the availability of indexing or making any changes to robots.txt.)
  • the site is available as a hoster;
  • technical garbage will not fall into the snippet.

If you assume these obligations, then you enter in this list. And vice versa, if you are not going to be responsible for this and in the future do not want a conflict with the client due to the fact that he had any high expectations, then prepare the second column.

Write the operations for which you do not undertake to answer as part of the result of the work.

A large company, a boutique agency, can make the list of areas of responsibility somehow large, redundant. A small agency or a separate freelancer who does not want to answer at all will probably reduce this list for everything related to the site. You can design it for yourself.

thinking

What does an SEO agency check?

The second item that we recommend doing is a list of what you check and how often you check. Trite in the first place, the check of positions is immediately remembered. But, besides this, there are many other indicators that it makes sense to check: closing indexations of the main page, monitoring certain tags, changing robots.txt, site ping ability, and so on and so forth.

We regulated all these processes, automate them with scripts, and checks in most of our cases are automated.

The exception is things that already relate not so much to inspections as to the periodic review of something. For example, the same SEO audit that a specialist does manually, it makes sense once a quarter to review whether the data is still relevant. Or, once every six months, revise the development strategy and the strategy for creating new content.

Most technical operations can be automated using scripts and existing SaaS services to receive API data from external systems starting from Webmaster, Google Console Search, Google Pagespeed and so on.

Customer Detailing

As a result, you will get some number of operations. We have several hundred in our agency. You may have less or more. The client does not need a highly detailed list of work. There is a volume of work that the client perceives as some kind of result. For example, collecting SY from you can be detailed as a large number of tasks. Assemble the semantic core, check its depth, check the expansion in width, add a toponym, add a commercial query, and so on. This is specifically for your choice. But, one way or another, what the client perceives as one block and the result will be broken down into separate pieces, or blocks, in the list of jobs for you. This is not always convenient for the client to see. Think, before giving him access to your internal task manager, there can be a huge number of technical tasks, some carry intermediate meanings rather than the end result. And the client will not want to plunge into them, he will want to see the picture as a whole.

Sample reports for customer

I went in, it’s immediately obvious: in half, a second information is accepted, which colour is greater. Dominated by green – a lot of work done, dominated by red – a lot of problems and so on.

It is important that the client will not jerk constantly, without asking you for every little thing, for every obligation. It is especially good if you undertake that you update the data once a week on Mondays if you have already made the current status on Friday, then if you come in on Monday morning to see it, the data will be excellent and relevant.

Operational Criteria

What criteria do we have for each operation? By itself, the list of operations that I can give you, or which you write yourself, is not the key to success.

Why? Because, even after seeing items such as “assemble the semantic core” or “check for stop words”, the specialist needs more data. He needs information on what criterion for the success of this operation is, what are the checklists, stop-word lists. It is necessary to give him instructions with the help of which tools, external services, software, electronic plates this is done.

Sometimes templates are needed, in what format to provide this data to the client, and so on. Therefore, it makes sense to work out each point, breaking it into small, detailed steps and blocks. Each small element, if it can be distinguished and described, is worthy to be called a separate operation.

It is desirable that for each action there was a detailed instruction, regulation, perhaps some additional description for the client.

Certain quality standards, as I gave examples of stop words in the semantic core, indicate automation capabilities or the impossibility of optimizing a given SEO process, interconnection with other processes.

It is not possible to collect positions on the semantic core until you create a semantic core. Therefore, the operation to monitor positions is dependent on the operation to create a semantic core.

A large number of operations, for example, processing data from google analytics, cannot be performed if you have not gained access to this  Google Analytics. This all seems to be logical, but if you write it in a file, then it will be easier for you to see where the narrow link is, without which you cannot execute a sufficiently large block.

It’s convenient to show the client when you ask for access to google analytics and explain how many operations you can perform after that. It is important to think about how much time you are going to spend on it. Especially if you are a company, not a private freelancer. What is the main nuance? People can perceive subjective evaluations such as “fast”, “good”, and so on in different ways. Sometimes it happens that a person works on a semantic core, physically, for example, for 4 days and believes that it is fast. And in some companies, it is standard to work out the semantic core for 8 hours, that is, one working day, and going beyond these limits is already a reason to condemn an employee.

Sometimes it happens that you know that this is a fast task, for example, it takes 5 minutes. And some experts carry it out for an hour, for example. Here is a signal for you – you just need to train this employee. Maybe he does it wrong or, for example, does not know some hotkeys, too, there are often such cases. Train, upgrade your skills, you can perform much more different operations in one working day.

But the indication of the standard allows both you and the employee to focus on how well, how quickly he performs this work and meets your expectations. In addition, even the commonplace thing – the summation of these standards over time, will help to suggest whether you are able to fulfil the plan.

Simple math. We have 8 hours of working time per day, 20 working days, 160 hours. One specialist who should work, for example, on four projects, can allocate about 30 hours. It turns out, for one project, no more than these 30 hours: with some losses in switching from other tasks, advanced training, training and so on.

At 30 hours not very much work can be shoved. Sometimes it happens that you want to do a lot or the project requires a very large amount of work, but this does not fit into the standard for the clock. Then there is the opportunity to sit down and talk objectively that you need to change something, increase the budget, attract other specialists, automate or outsource any work. Only through numbers and analysis can this be clarified.

Consider the internal cost. If you outsource something or use some kind of internal system, you need to understand how much you fit into the rate of profit.

Basics of Website Designing And Its Type

Basics of Website Designing And Its Type

In simple words, web design means designing a website. Web designing is a subset of web development. It involves various aspects like web page layout, content creation, and graphic designing. Web design is the development of the front end look(user side) of a web page. In this modern world where the internet plays a major role, almost every business requires a web page. To make an effective online presence it is important for a web page to be easily accessible and a delight to the eye of the user.

What Do We Need In A Website?

For the web page to be attractive and easy to navigate through it is important that the web page is designed in a proper fashion. There are a lot of web designs. To be able to understand which web designs suit your business it is necessary to first understand what are the different types of web designs available. However, there are a lot of web developers/designers who will help you get through the process it is always good to have a little information about such stuff. Let us now look into the different types of web designs.

Fixed Web Design

Also known as the static web design, it is one of the most basic forms of web designing and to my knowledge, one of the first types of web designs also. It is mostly not used by any of the web designers due to the inconvenience it creates for the users. A fixed design implies that the width of pixels is fixed. To explain in simple terms it means that the font, size of images and any other thing does not vary when the device it is operated on varies

Q

Why the Fixed-Sized Website Is Not Good?

We know that these days we browse the web on our phones, laptops, tablets of various sizes and shapes. Now imagine a website that does not accommodate itself according to the screen size and type of device. The font you see on the laptop and the phone is the same. It becomes excessively difficult to access this website on any other platform except the one it was designed for. None of the users these days have so much time or patience to browse the websites on only a specific platform. So such kinds of websites do not gather much traffic and are lost the deeper pages of the browser, and eventually become useless.

Fluid Web Design

Fluid design is also known as liquid design. In this, the width is not given in pixels but in percentages. It changes whenever the size of the screen varies. It is given in percentages with respect to the dimensions of the screen it is viewed on. For example, if a picture takes up 20% width of the total screen, this 20% varies for different sizes of the screens.

Everything that is visible on the web page is built by specifying the percentages rather than fixed values. This type of liquid design is a lot better when compared to the fixed type of web designing. The sizes of the text/images increase or decrease accordingly with the variation of the screen size.

Q

Drawbacks of Fluid Web Design

The one obvious drawback of fluid web designing is that it will not look good on at least one of the screens (small or big). If the web page is designed for larger screens then when it is viewed on a small screen it looks crowded and similarly, when the web page is designed for a smaller screen and is viewed on a large screen it looks somewhat empty. However, it is a lot better than the fixed type of design and is used in some scenarios where the other options are worse.

Adaptive Web Design

Adaptive web design is the most accommodating type of web designing available. As the name suggests in adaptive web design there are versions of the web page available and they are adapted according to the size of the screen the web page is viewed on. It is called adaptive web design because it adapts according to the size and dimensions of the screen the web page is viewed on. It is designed in various forms for specific sizes of the screen. This was first introduced in 2011 by Aaron Gustafson in his book.

Responsive Web Design

Responsive web design is somewhat similar to adaptive web design. This term was first introduced by Ethan Marcotte in his book about responsive web designing. Unlike adaptive web design responsive web design changes according to the change in the browser width. Where on one hand adaptive web design is designed only for a few standard browser sizes responsive web design responds according to the changes in the sizes of the browses.

Q

Drawbacks of Adaptive Web Design

Re-Sizable On Other Devices
When you open a web page on your laptop or your phone the website selects the dimensions most appropriate to the dimension of the device on which the web page is opened and then applies it. Resizing the screen does not have any effects on the designing of the web page in adaptive web designing. It is a good type of designing but the only drawback is that it does not accurately display the data because these days devices are available in a wide range of sizes and web pages cannot be designed for every size. However, for some standard sizes, it is really good practice.

When the size of the browser changes ( for example the browser is minimized) responsive web design accommodates the elements on the web page accordingly to give an optimal look to the website. It is one of the most convenient and preferred types of web designing which is user-friendly. However, designing a responsive web design requires a very good intricate knowledge of the users and their preferences but it will surely be worth it.

How To Choose The Best Web Design?

Now that you are aware of the different types of web designs available and the pros and cons of using each one of them it will be an easy task to determine which one of them will be the best for your website. Before you choose any one of them to make sure you have enough knowledge about the users and their preferences. A good website gathers good traffic, which gives good reach and in turn boosts your business. It is really important to have a good website that is easy to browse through. Keeping in mind all these important benefits of a good website, I personally suggest that you hire a professional to get through the technical and more complicated things involved in web designing to ensure a user-friendly and most optimal webpage.
